My name is Samantha and I have always had a passion for
teaching.
I graduated from Cabrini
College in 2009 with a Bachelor’s Degree in elementary education with
certification. Since graduation, I have worked in a variety of classrooms; not my own. I have worked as a teacher assistant and a
1-to-1 (1:1) in all sorts of classrooms.
A few years ago I was able to get a 1:1 position working with a student
with autism. Ever since the experience
with that job, I was introduced to the world of special education (in
particular autism) and decided I am meant to working with students with special
needs.
Finally in January 2014, I decided to begin my graduate
studies at Cabrini College to pursue a certification and Master’s Degree in
special education.
I believe adapting the classroom for multiple types of learners is imperative to the success of each student. Some students are diagnosed and are part of special education however there are many students that are not officially within the special education program but also have special needs. As an educator, it is important to keep all learners in mind to help each student succeed to the best of their ability.
This blog is a platform that I will be utilizing to share concepts / ideas of being able to incorporate all different types of learners and students with different types of special needs.
